OUR MILESTONES

Over a 12 year period, CCJ has provided support to Jamaica in goods, services and cash donations to various institutions.

Our efforts have included:

1988
Collection, packaging and shipment of food, clothing and medical supplies to the island.
1989-1991
Black River Hospital in St. Elizabeth and Liecesterfield All Age School in Clarendon, Jamaica were provided directly with our support.
Provided tuition and other educational assistance to Jamaicans in the Chicago area.
Manchester Principals Association to assist children to sit examinations.
Hurricane Relief Fund in Jamaica and Hurricane Andrew in the United States.
1993
Liecesterfield All Age School for classroom supplies and computers.
Jamaica Flood Relief Fund
1994
Donated an x-ray machine and health care supplies, compliments of Ameritech, to the Concerned Haitian Americans of Illinois.
Shipped medical supplies, compliments of Ameritech, to the Lady Kiwanis of Kingston, Jamaica.
Educational supplies to Liecesterfield and Little Bay All Age Schools in Jamaica.
18 computers distributed to the following schools: Maud McCalla All Age School, Darliston, Westmoreland; St. Jago High School in Spanish Town, Clarendon; Charlie Smith All Age in Rema, Kingston; Glenmuir High School and Bellefield Comprehensive High School, Manchester.
1995
37 computers and 13 printers (donated by Northwestern University), 10 electronic typewriters and assorted software (donated by Evanston Hospital), which were distributed to the following schools: St. Hughs High in Kingston; Fern Court High, in Clarendon; Manchester High, Bellefield Comprehensive High, Mile Gully All Age and Hatfield All Age in Manchester; New Forest All Age in St. Elizabeth; and Maud McCalla All Age in Westmoreland.
Copy machines for each of the following: Braeton All Age, St. Catherine; Moneague Primary/Junior High, St. Ann; and Steer Town All Age, St. Ann.
Supported the United Negro College Fund.
1996
A new scholarship program to financially assist four students at the high school level.
13 boxes of books to build and complement the libraries at Little Bay All Age School in Westmoreland, New Green in Manchester and Port Royal in Kingston.
Supported the United Negro College Fund
1997
Provided scholarships and exam fee payments for several students.
Supported the Red Cross on behalf of victims of the volcano in the Caribbean island of Montserrat.

Copy machines for each of the following schools: May Pen All Age School, Clarendon and Little Bay All Age School, Little London, Westmoreland.
Two computers to Brandon Hill All Age School, St. Andrew.
1998
Continued funding of the scholarship program began in 1996 and the examination fee assistance initiative.
Purchased copy machines for selected schools.

1999
Continued the scholarship program and examination assistance.

Donated 30 computers, compliments of various companies and individuals, to the Rotary Clubs for schools in Jamaica.
20 Y2K ready computers donated by Baxter International, transportation provided by Air Jamaica for the following schools: Sanguinette Primary, Clarendon; Boy's Town, Camperdown High, St. Andrew Prep (in Kingston); Buff Bay Comprehensive, Portland; Chaulk Hill, St. Ann; Linstead All Age, St. Catherine; Zion Hill Primary, St. Mary; and TownHead All Age, Westmoreland.
Embarked on a project with the Jamaican Library Services to equip at least one library in each parish with technology that will enable the Jamaican communities to have access to the information super highway. In the initial phase CCJ purchased in Jamaica, three internet ready computer systems consisting of high speed computers, modems, scanners, fax machines and printers to be installed in libraries in Kingston, Mandeville, and Morant Bay.
